Objectives

  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of the underlying factors influencing public health and oral public health, including social, cultural, behavioral, economical and political determinants of health.
  • Apply the principles and practices of epidemilology, statistics and the behavioral sciences to oral public health and to critical review of the scientific literature.
  • Describe the types of research designs used for descriptive, analytic, and experimental inquiry.
  • Describe evidence-based clinical practice and reis assessment and their application to clinical dentistry.
  • Describe the major issues and obstancles in oral public health, and their possible resolutions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practices of planning, developing, implementing and evaluating oral health care delivery systems.
  • To develop the student's civic engagement, social and cultural awareness and knowledge and skills needed to provide quality oral health care services to underserved populations.
  • To develop the students' professional and ethical growth by providing compassionate quality oral health care to disparate, underserved, and disadvantaged patient populations.
